It’s easy to just shove cookies into one delicious category, but every single type of cookie falls under one of nine main categories in the world. Cookies schaumburg or cookies from India, they are all classified.
These categories are: bar cookies, drop cookies, molded cookies, no-bake cookies, pressed cookies, icebox cookies, rolled cookies, sandwich cookies, and fried cookies. You’ll probably be connecting your favorite baked good to their type as we go along!
Bar cookies are the type of cookies that are pressed into a pan and then cut out into individual squares or bars, brownies and lemon squares (Look it up, they are cookies due to being finger food) are examples of bar cookies.
Drop cookies are when the dough is filled out in a scooper and then dropped onto a pan to be baked. These are the cookies most people are familiar with. Molded cookies are cookies made from thick dough and molded into a shape.
No bake cookies are made when wet ingredients are frozen together, without using an oven. Examples are pralines and Rice Krispies Treats. Pressed cookies are made from dough that comes out of a pastry gun or bag and is pressed into different shapes.
Ice Box cookies use the freezer again to freeze logs of cookie dough that are frozen together and then sliced into thick slabs. Rolled cookies are any cookies made with a cookie cutter, sandwich cookies have fillings between them, and fried cookies are made using a fryer instead of an oven.
